Ukraine's passenger car imports fall 18% in Jan

 Imports of passenger cars into Ukraine, including passenger vans and racing cars (Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity code 8703), in monetary terms in January 2026 totaled nearly $274 million, which is 18% less than in January 2025 (nearly $334 million).

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, compared with December 2025, passenger car imports decreased 2.4 times.

The three largest suppliers of passenger cars to Ukraine in January were Japan, the United States, and Germany, while over the previous year the same countries ranked as the largest suppliers, though Germany was the leading exporter, followed by the United States and Japan. In particular, in January 2026, car deliveries from Japan increased by 38%, to $57.6 million, and their share in the structure of car imports rose to 21% from 12.5%.

Ukraine imported cars from the United States worth $54.5 million (down 12.8%), and from Germany worth $45 million (down 39.6%).

From other countries, total passenger car imports in January amounted to $116.8 million, compared with $155.1 million in January last year.

At the same time, last month Ukraine almost did not export such vehicles, whereas in January 2025 supplies totaling $1.09 million were delivered to the United Arab Emirates (90.5%), Germany, and Moldova.

According to the State Customs Service, in the overall structure of Ukraine's goods imports in January this year, the share of passenger cars accounted for 4.1%, compared with 6.02% in January 2025.
