EBRD to provide EUR 12 mln loan for energy efficiency projects in Rivne

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan of EUR 12 million for the implementation of projects to improve energy efficiency and energy security in 24 social infrastructure facilities in Rivne, the bank’s website says.

According to the announcement, the corresponding project was approved by the bank’s board of directors on February 10.

The project includes installing photovoltaic panels, energy storage systems and heat pumps in at least 24 public buildings: hospitals, kindergartens, schools and rehabilitation centers for veterans.

Energy savings for end consumers are expected to reach up to 46%. Total emissions reduction is estimated at nearly 3,000 tonnes of CO2.

In addition, the project includes improving accessibility at 14 medical and educational facilities through installation of ramps, Braille signage and other features.

The total project cost is EUR 19 million. The EBRD loan is part of a broader financing package that also includes a EUR 6 million investment grant from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership, as well as EUR 1 million in co-financing from the city itself. The loan will also be supported by a partial guarantee from the Spanish government.

The loan is provided under the Resilience and Livelihoods Framework program.

As previously reported, the EBRD allocated EUR 2.9 billion in financing to Ukraine in 2025.
