Forests of Ukraine plans to implement over 60 projects for construction of forest roads in 2026

The State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine plans to implement over 60 projects for the construction and reconstruction of forest roads in 2026 with a total length of over 200 km, the company’s press service reported.

"Only paved roads ensure stable production in any season. Our investment plan is aimed at ensuring energy independence and uninterrupted timber supply, especially during the spring mud season, which typically paralyzes traffic on dirt roads," the state enterprise wrote on Facebook.

According to the plan, the largest number of projects is planned in the Carpathian (19), Polissia (15) and Capital (11) forest offices. New construction is also planned in the Northern, Podillia and Central regions. The projects include road surface construction and the development of intermediate storage facilities for storing, sorting and shipping timber products.

As an example of the economic effect, the company cited the Ozernianske forestry in Ivano-Frankivsk region, where a new road will increase annual timber harvesting from 15,000 cubic meters to 17,000 cubic meters. In the Zhubrovytske forestry in Zhytomyr region, construction will bring 1,000 hectares of forest fund land into economic use that was previously accessible only during periods of frost or drought.

Beyond production metrics, the projects carry social significance. In Liubomyl district in Volyn region, a new road between the villages of Borove and Sokil will cut the distance for local residents by nearly 10 miles, significantly improving logistics and access to firewood.
