Switzerland to provide Ukraine with three GCS-200 demining machines worth over EUR 3 mln
Switzerland will deliver three additional heavy demining machines from the Swiss company Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine by the end of 2024, the country's president, Viola Amherd, said.
At the Second Annual Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC-2024) on Thursday in Lausanne, she said this year, they will deliver three more machines from Global Clearance Solutions, as well as provide training and on-site support. This will enable Ukraine to conduct effective and safe demining operations independently in the future.
As clarified by General Manager of GSC in Ukraine Dmytro Salimonov to Interfax-Ukraine agency, the cost of each GCS-200 demining machine for large areas is over EUR 1 million.
According to him, as of early October, 54 of the company's machines were already operational in Ukraine, and by the middle of next year, there could be nearly 100 or even more.
