Zelenskyy: In Abu Dhabi, USA raises issue of not attacking critical infrastructure

At the end of the last meeting in Abu Dhabi, the USA proposed de-escalation steps, including ending attacks on critical infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"After the meeting in Abu Dhabi, the American side proposed de-escalation steps at the end of the meeting. They called de-escalation not targeting energy infrastructure. Frankly, they raised the issue of not targeting other, critical infrastructure," Zelenskyy said during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Kyiv.

According to the president, Russia delayed its attack on Ukraine, increased the number of missiles and drones, and launched the strike during the coldest days. "That is, I wouldn’t say anyone gave us anything. I don’t think that’s how it works," he noted, adding that the Russians were hit with 1.5 times more missiles and drones than they could muster at the time.

The head of state emphasized that US President Donald Trump’s proposal was important, particularly to demonstrate that de-escalation steps were underway and to begin the next meeting of the teams on that basis.

"We will certainly support de-escalation steps if similar proposals are made by the Americans," Zelenskyy noted.
