Kyiv has received the first batch of 177 generators from the European Union, the capital’s mayor Vitali Klitschko has announced.

"In particular, 135 power sources with a capacity of 20 kW and 42 generators - 22 kW each. The city will send them, mainly, for connection to individual heating points in houses, where there is such a possibility," Klitschko said on Telegram.

He noted that the generators were provided from the EU’s strategic reserve of civil protection assets - rescEU through the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) at the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). Deliveries from the rescEU reserve are fully financed by the EU and coordinated by the European Commission.

"Tomorrow we expect the second batch - another 41 generators. That is, there will be a total of 218 generators from the EU. We thank our European partners for this much-needed assistance in the conditions of the emergency situation that has developed in Ukraine and Kyiv due to massive enemy shelling of critical infrastructure," the mayor added.
