NATO Secretary General: I believe the US is "doing exactly what we need" on Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte considers the statement about the lack of pressure on Russia from the United States to be "unfair".
As reported by the correspondent of the Interfax-Ukraine agency, he stated this before the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels on Thursday, answering a question about the lack of pressure on Russia from the US.
"I believe that the statement on this issue is unfair… The US, like the Europeans, is putting pressure on Russia through sanctions. Look at what is happening with Lukoil, Rosneft and everything else that the US is doing," Rutte said.
He stressed that the US is supplying Ukraine with important air defense systems and all types of lethal weapons as part of the PURL program, which is funded by allies and partners.
In addition, as the NATO Secretary General emphasized, the United States is leading the peace efforts.
"And there is only one country, the most powerful country on earth, the United States, that can do this under the leadership of President Trump…So I really believe that the United States is doing exactly what we need when it comes to Ukraine," he said.
