We take whole blocks of equipment from old TPPs, CHPPs in Eastern Europe to create reserve – Shmyhal
One of the ways to create a reserve of equipment for the restoration of Ukrainian TPPs and CHPPs damaged by Russian strikes is Soviet-style blocks of such plants in Eastern Europe, from where Ukraine is actively importing them, said First Deputy Prime Minister. Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.
"We continue to work with our partners to search for old Soviet-type thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants in Eastern Europe. We find such facilities, together with engineers and energy workers from Ukrainian companies and stations, conduct assessments, inventories, analysis and take entire blocks of equipment, which gives us the opportunity to make replacements. We have a whole series of such facilities," Shmyhal said during Question Time to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
According to him, a Ukrainian delegation last week visited several Eastern European countries "with which we will implement this plan."
Shmyhal emphasized that the government and the Energy Ministry are now focused on creating a reserve of equipment for rapid restoration after attacks by Russian terrorists, using all possible options, including attracting funds to the Energy Support Fund. At the same time, he noted that manufacturing new equipment is a lengthy process.
