Modular town for IDPs opened in Sumy
The first two houses of a modular town for internally displaced persons (IDPs)have been opened in Sumy.
"This is the fourth such project in the country, which is being implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society together with partners. It is important for us to support people who have lost their homes or were forced to leave their homes as a result of the war in Ukraine," Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society Maksym Dotsenko said at the official opening of the modular town on Thursday.
Each of the two houses has 32 apartments, equipped with furniture and appliances for comfortable living for families. The town also has a shelter.
Representatives of Sumy regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, a delegation of Swedish Red Cross led by Secretary General Ulrika Modéer, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and local authorities of Sumy region took part in the opening of the town.
The project was implemented thanks to the financial support of the Swedish Red Cross and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
