Zelenskyy: No signals from US or Europe yet that Iran situation will impact PURL
There have been no signals from the United States or Europe that the situation surrounding Iran will impact the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, and the program remains operational; however, the intensity of hostilities in Iran will affect the availability of air defense systems for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
"Undoubtedly, this issue concerns us, and that is why we are in contact with our partners: literally 10 minutes ago, I spoke with the German Chancellor and raised this matter. So far, there have been no such signals from the Americans or the Europeans. Everyone understands that for us, this is our life, the corresponding weapons. For now, the PURL program is working, and I am working to ensure there are tranches from our European partners," he told journalists on Monday.
The PURL initiative, launched in late 2025 by the United States and NATO, serves as a key mechanism for funding the delivery of U.S.-manufactured arms—particularly Patriot and HIMARS missiles—through financial contributions from European and other allied nations.
Zelenskyy emphasized that while the financial mechanism remains stable, the sudden outbreak of a major conflict in the Middle East creates a "physical" competition for existing stockpiles of interceptor missiles and air defense hardware that both Ukraine and Israel urgently require.
