Switzerland donates 30 debris clearance vehicles, 30 fire pumps to Ukraine

Switzerland has donated equipment worth CHF 5.6 million (approximately $6.4 million) to Ukraine, consisting of 30 debris clearance vehicles and 30 fire pumps, six of which were allocated to local water utilities, while the rest were provided to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

"It is very important that this is the kind of assistance that gives us the opportunity to save people, eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling directly on the line of combat conflict. And this donation will be sent tomorrow to the regions where it will work," said the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danik during the official transfer of equipment on Friday.

The Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection, and Sport supplied the equipment, while the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) financed the transport, prioritizing rail to minimize environmental impact.

Swiss Ambassador to Ukraine Félix Baumann reiterated Switzerland's commitment to supporting Ukraine's State Emergency Service.

"In March, we signed a memorandum was signed to strengthen cooperation, including the transfer of vehicles and spare parts, training programs for State Emergency Service staff, and projects related to water supply and sanitation. Another project that we are working on together with the State Emergency Service is the construction of a logistics hub for the technical service unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kyiv region," he said.

Switzerland previously transferred similar equipment to Ukraine's State Emergency Service in October 2022.
