UAE helps to exchange 2,000 POWs between Russia, Ukraine – ambassador
The United Arab Emirates helped to exchange 2,000 prisoners of war (POW) between Russia and Ukraine, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al-Hay Al-Hameli has said.
"The UAE played the role of intermediary between Russia and Ukraine, helping to exchange 2,000 POWs between the two sides," he said at a reception in Ashkhabad on the occasion of the 53rd UAE National Day.
The diplomat's speech was cited by News Central Asia (nCa) on Wednesday.
"The UAE calls for a peaceful solution to put an end to this conflict," the ambassador said.
