Kyiv authorities want Saudi Arabia’s prince humanitarian fund to help build school in Hora
Saudi Arabia's representatives have expressed their willingness to cooperate with Ukraine in restoring critical infrastructure in Kyiv region. In particular, they are interested in completing the construction of a 600-student secondary school in Hora, a village in Boryspil district, head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk said.
"Held an online meeting with representatives of the Humanitarian Foundation of His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and the Ukrainian-Arab Business Council. I sincerely thanked the partners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their willingness to cooperate and for their sincere interest in restoring critical infrastructure in Kyiv region," he wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.
According to him, the Saudi side confirmed its support for Kyiv region and its openness to the implementation of joint humanitarian and social projects. "The main topic of conversation was the completion of construction on a secondary school for 600 students in Hora, a village in Boryspil district. This facility is important for the community. Construction was halted due to the war," Kalashnyk specified.
He reported that the main part of the school has already been built. However, a number of engineering, finishing, and landscaping works remain to be completed before it can be fully commissioned. This includes the construction of a modern shelter in accordance with security requirements. According to the head of the regional administration, the possibility of involving the Prince Alwaleed Foundation in the project has been discussed with the Saudis. "We are counting on partnership participation in financing the final phase of construction, because this school is the future for hundreds of children in the community," Kalashnyk added.
"I also invited Saudi business representatives to cooperate with Kyiv region. Our region is a place of great opportunity, not just a territory in need of restoration. We have the potential to launch investment projects in construction, agribusiness, energy, and the processing industry. Interest from our Arab partners is further proof that Kyiv region remains promising and economically attractive, even during difficult times," the head of the region emphasized.
