Number of loans under portfolio govt guarantee program in June decreases by 6.8%

Banks issued 767 loans under the state guarantee program on a portfolio basis in June, which is 6.8% more than in May, the Finance Ministry said on its website on Wednesday.

According to published information, the volume of loans issued did not change compared to a month earlier and amounted to UAH 2.4 billion.

"As part of the support for micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, since the beginning of the use of the instrument of state guarantees on a portfolio basis, some 37,824 loans have been issued since December 2020 for a total amount of UAH 120.6 billion," the department said.

It is clarified that as of July 1, 2024, some 29 creditor banks service more than 19,500 loans worth UAH 67.2 billion. Principal debt obligations, partially secured by government guarantees on a portfolio basis, amounted to UAH 30.4 billion, or about 69% of the total limit of provided guarantees (UAH 43.9 billion).

As before, in terms of the number of loans under state guarantees serviced as of July 1, 2024, PrivatBank is in the lead some 13,200 loans totalling UAH 21.6 billion, which is 62% of the limit of such guarantees provided to the bank.

The second largest number of such loans is Oschadbank some 2,841 loans for about UAH 11 billion (90% of the limit). Ukrgasbank closes the top three: in June it serviced 919 loans worth 9.6 billion (68% of the limit).

Next come FUIB some 583 loans for UAH 5.84 billion (UAH 5.13 billion) and Ukreximbank some 403 loans for almost UAH 5.8 billion.

The second five in terms of the volume of serviced loans included: ProCredit Bank some 479 loans for UAH 2.94 billion, OTP Bank some 315 loans for almost UAH 1.9 billion, Raiffeisen Bank some 182 loans for UAH 1.58 billion, Vostok Bank 35 loans for UAH 978 million and TAScombank some 66 loans for UAH 908 million.

In the third top five are Credit Dnepr Bank some 130 loans for UAH 850 million, Credit Agricole Bank some 75 loans for UAH 742 million, Piraeus Bank some 45 loans for UAH 712 million, Alliance Bank some 52 loans for UAH 512 million (68% of the limit), and Lviv Bank some 68 loans for UAH 376 million.

Regionally, the largest volume of loans is serviced in Kyiv some 2,287 loans totalling about UAH 8 billion, Dnipropetrovsk region some 1,538 loans worth UAH 5.1 billion, as well as Lviv region some 1,692 loans totalling almost UAH 5 billion, Kyiv region some 1,219 loans for UAH 4.2 billion and Odesa some 1,239 loans for about UAH 4 billion.

By type of economic activity, the largest number of loans, partially secured by government guarantees on a portfolio basis, are serviced in wholesale and retail trade, vehicle repair some 8,319 loans worth UAH 17.4 billion, agriculture more than 5,000 loans worth UAH 29.1 billion, processing industry some almost 3,100 loans for UAH 14.1 billion, transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities some 1,125 loans for UAH 2.4 billion, as well as construction some 492 loans for UAH 1.6 billion.
