Nova Poshta opens in Rome, Naples or Verona to follow – co-owner
Nova Poshta from the Nova group of companies opened a branch in the Italian capital, Rome, this weekend, making it the second city where the Ukrainian company has a presence in the country after entering the Italian market with the first branch opening in Milan last December.
"I think the next cities in Italy will be Naples or Verona. These two cities are in the immediate plans. We have not yet found premises there, but the openings will happen," co-founder of Nova Poshta and Nova Group Viacheslav Klymov told Interfax-Ukraine during the opening.
According to him, simultaneously, the company will expand door-to-door delivery to any point in Italy by establishing contacts with local market leaders to gain access to their networks, branches, and parcel lockers.
Klymov also mentioned that internal delivery within Italy is in the plans for Nova Poshta.
"One of the company's strategic principles is speed. We do not know how to deliver slowly. Now (internal delivery) will definitely be between Milan and Rome, and it will definitely be next-day delivery," the co-owner said.
In a press release, Nova Poshta also reported that with the opening of the branch in Rome, it began delivering parcels to partner parcel lockers and pick-up points located throughout the country, with delivery times to Ukraine starting from seven days.
The Rome branch operates daily, allowing customers to send documents, parcels, and cargo up to 100 kg to and from Ukraine, within the country, and between European countries where Nova Poshta is present.
Soon Nova Poshta's own courier delivery service will operate in Rome and its suburbs, similar to what is already working in Milan, and through cooperation with local logistics companies, customers will be able to send parcels across the country.
In particular, since June, a new service for delivery to parcel lockers and pick-up points from the partner network GLS, operating throughout the country, has been available to customers. At such service points, prepaid parcels weighing up to 25 kg and measuring no more than 41x38x64 cm can be received. Thus, as stated in the release, today the Nova Poshta network in Italy consists of two branches, 2,000 parcel lockers, and 4,500 pick-up points.
As reported, Nova entered the French market at the beginning of July, opening the first branch in Nice, which became the hundredth branch opened outside Ukraine in Europe. France became the 14th European country where the company operates. It was noted that thanks to partners, Nova Poshta had over 35,000 service points in Europe as of early July.
In Ukraine, from the beginning of 2024 until the end of July, the company expanded its network from 26,600 to 30,100 points: to 12,100 branches and 18,000 parcel lockers.
According to Eurostat, Italy is the fifth largest European country by the number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status: at the end of May, there were 165,130, 500 more than in April.
