Commercial real estate restoration projects account for up to 20% of Ukraine's construction market – Rauta

Commercial real estate restoration projects account for up to 20% of Ukraine's construction market, Andriy Ozeychuk, director of the engineering and construction company Rauta, said in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine.

"Despite the war risks, the owners of most of the destroyed commercial real estate objects are investing in their restoration to restart their business, which allows companies to continue to operate effectively. In particular, about 80% of retail facilities destroyed during a full-scale invasion and located far from the combat zone have already been rebuilt or are in the process of restoration," he said.

According to Ozeychuk, in the segment of industrial and warehouse buildings this figure is lower, about 40%.

"For most of these objects, the owners are looking for financing," the director of Rauta said.

According to him, among the restoration projects in which Rauta was involved are the Retroville shopping center (Kyiv), the production workshop of Chernihiv Automobile Plant and the Novus supermarket in Bucha (Kyiv region).

Rauta's experience in restoring commercial real estate objects shows that often an additional requirement of investors when restoring objects is to increase their energy efficiency and architectural attractiveness, which allows optimizing the costs of operating the buildings.

According to the World Bank, as of February 2024, Ukraine's recovery needs were estimated at $486 billion, of which about 25% were commercial real estate objects.

The engineering and construction company Rauta is a leading provider of reliable construction solutions in Ukraine and the European Union.
