No need to make tragedy out of moderate emission during war, but we don't plan it in 2024-2025 – PM
The government does not plan to resort to hryvnia emission during this year and next, but it should not be perceived as a tragedy in any case, says Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
"There is no need to make a tragedy out of moderate emission during the war. Even the IMF program states that moderate controlled emission is allowed during the war. We are not going to use this instrument, but now we just need to be very balanced and not give in to any manipulations, panic," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The prime minister gave a positive assessment of the financial and macro-financial policy under the leadership of the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank and with the help of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), noting that it is "very balanced and considered."
"We are doing this. This is what our partners are asking for - to raise taxes. Because this is our responsibility. It is our responsibility to finance the Ukrainian army and no one else's," Shmyhal summed up.
