Ukraine and Slovakia to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food industry - memo
Ukraine and Slovakia signed a memorandum on cooperation in agriculture and food industry, which concerns, in particular, cooperation at the level of associations and farmers and strengthening direct horizontal ties between them, said Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval.
"Today I've signed a memorandum on cooperation in agriculture and food industry with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Slovakia Richard Takac. In particular, we are talking about cooperation at the level of associations and farmers of our countries and strengthening direct horizontal ties between them," he wrote on Telegram on Monday.
According to him, the ministries also outlined cooperation in the areas of animal breeding, plant selection and export development between the countries, as well as in the field of scientific research in agriculture.
"I invited the minister to join supporting our agricultural producers in the frontline regions. This is not only about grant support, but, for example, about opening joint Ukrainian-Slovak enterprises for deep processing," Koval added.
The parties also agreed to counter hostile disinformation regarding Ukrainian agricultural products.
"Ukrainian and Slovak farmers must understand each other. This is the key to long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation," the minister is confident.
"The experience of our partners is important to us. However, we also have something to share. Our farmers continue to sow and harvest crops in extremely difficult conditions, Ukraine - to ensure food security for the world," the minister concluded.
