IAEA calls Russia guilty of attack on Okhmatdyt
The IAEA Board of Governors, at an emergency closed meeting on July 12, condemned the missile strike carried out on July 8 at the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv, blaming Russia, the website of the government portal reports.
"I thank the IAEA Board of Governors for their resolute response to the openly terrorist actions of our enemy. A terrorist country shows the whole world that it is able to easily direct its weapons not just against civilians, but against seriously ill children. The whole world sees it. In addition, such an audacious attack on the Okhmatdyt hospital is an unacceptable violation of the basic principles and values of the IAEA, undermining the foundation of international nuclear safety and security," the press service quoted Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.
It is noted that the Board of Governors approved the relevant resolution at the request of Ukraine.
In particular, the document says that the Council strongly condemns the disruption of IAEA technical assistance to Ukraine caused by the recent military strike by the Russian Federation on the Okhmatdyt National Children's Specialized Hospital.
The Council also supported the continued efforts of the IAEA in technical cooperation with Ukraine, including further assistance to Okhmatdyt and other similar institutions to ensure the continuity of medical services and strengthen radiation safety and protection measures.
In addition, he called on the participating countries to provide political and financial support to Ukraine, in particular, by providing the necessary equipment related to nuclear safety and protection.
