Emergency Service's head: Only those saving people protected from mobilization
Only operational employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine who are directly involved in saving people have reservations from mobilization; those who are involved in providing the service do not have reservations; their future fate will be determined by territorial centers of recruitment and social support, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danyk said.
"All operational service specialists (90% of the personnel) have armor, that is, these are those who directly save people. Some 10% of the State Emergency Service employees are without armor. This is not an operational staff, this is a support staff. They will not have armor, but will they? They are mobilized, the Territorial recruitment centers will decide," Danyk said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, given the fact that there is a shortage in the system, a larger number of State Emergency Service employees without armor could be critical when carrying out rescue operations.
The department's head also said that today there are almost 500 people from the State Emergency Service system directly at the front who went to fight at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. "They filed a report, were removed from the State Emergency Service list and signed a contract with the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Service of Ukraine, and now continue to fight," Danyk said.
