Richard Verma to become U.S. Special Rep for Ukraine's Economic Recovery after Pritzker – Blinken
Deputy Secretary of State for Management & Resources Richard Verma will be appointed as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery after the end of Penny Pritzker's term, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced on Tuesday.
"While Penny's position is limited to one year by statute, the work she began will continue. Deputy Secretary of State for Management & Resources Richard Verma will carry forward her work in service of the United States' efforts to support Ukraine’s economic recovery. The Biden administration is committed to helping Ukraine stand strongly on its own feet – militarily, economically, and democratically," he said in a statement published on the website of the U.S. Department of State.
Blinken thanked Pritzker for her numerous accomplishments.
As reported, Pritzker made her sixth and last visit to Kyiv as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery in late July.
"Ukraine's economic recovery will not only continue, but is continuing to evolve as dictated. And there will be continuity in our work to support Ukraine's mission to not only win the war, but also win the future," she said.
Verma, born in 1968, earlier visited Ukraine to meet with then Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction – Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and Finance Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko.
