DTEK Energy invests almost UAH 2 bln in repairs and restoration of TPPs
DTEK Energy invested almost UAH 2 billion of its own funds in the repairs and restoration of thermal power plants (TPPs) over the first seven months of 2024, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.
In total, DTEK plans to invest about UAH 3.9 billion in repairs and restoration of thermal power plants this year, which is in line with last year's investments.
"There are just over two months left before the start of the heating season. Therefore, power engineers and repairmen are working around the clock to restore and return as much damaged capacity as possible to the power grid as quickly as possible. They will partially succeed, but the volume of destruction is so large-scale that they will continue to restore it in the same mode throughout the winter and in the following years," said Ildar Saleev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
As reported, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has attacked DTEK Energy thermal power plants more than 180 times, of which seven massive attacks occurred in March-June of this year. As a result of the shelling, about 90% of DTEK's thermal generation capacity was destroyed or damaged. According to preliminary data, approximately UAH 14-16 billion ($350-400 million) is needed to restore them. This is the damage to the equipment and the cost of repair work.
