Umerov discusses strengthening of Drone Coalition with Latvian Defense Minister
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that he met with the Latvian delegation headed by Minister of Defense Andris Spruds.
"Together with the team, we informed Latvian colleagues about the latest events at the front and the process of equipping fortifications. We discussed ways to further strengthen our powerful partnership," Umerov said on his Facebook.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that this year Latvia will provide military support to Ukraine in the amount of about EUR 112 million and in the future will provide defense assistance at the level of 0.25% of its GDP annually.
It is noted that an important topic of the meeting was the strengthening of the Drone Coalition, where Latvia plays one of the leading roles.
"As part of this international coalition, the process of transferring Latvian-made drones to the Defense Forces continues. In general, Latvia will provide Ukraine with several thousand drones to repel large-scale Russian aggression. They discussed the next steps to strengthen the Coalition, which has already united almost two dozen countries," Umerov said.
In turn, Latvian official Spruds expressed his readiness to work with other countries to attract them to the Coalition and similar initiatives in support of Ukraine.
