Shmyhal: Ukraine needs more equipment to build decentralized energy system
Supplies of equipment by partners to build a decentralized energy system remain among Ukraine’s priorities, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said in a conversation with Deputy Secretary of State, acting U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma on Monday.
"Financial assistance from the U.S. is extremely important for us. Part of it is energy support. We are currently preparing for a difficult heating season. We need more equipment from our partners to build a decentralized energy system. I voiced our urgent needs," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.
"Had a conversation with the Deputy Secretary of State, the acting U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Richard Verma about the damage to civilian infrastructure caused by today's massive Russian attack," Shmyhal said on the X network.
"The enemy deliberately targeted the energy sector. Energy workers are doing everything to restore electricity to Ukrainian homes," Shmyhal wrote.
He also stressed the importance of the complete confiscation of frozen Russian assets and the allocation of resources to support Ukraine. He called on partners to accelerate work in this direction.
"We talked about urgent energy needs, long-term projects, war risk insurance, the importance of fully seizing frozen Russian assets and providing resources to support Ukraine. I thanked the U.S. for its contribution to strengthening Ukraine," he added.
As reported, on Monday morning, Russia launched one of the largest strikes on Ukraine, using 127 missiles of various types and 109 Shahed UAVs. There are casualties and more than a dozen people were wounded, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
