Ukrainian air defense eliminated 53 of 56 enemy Shaheds that attacked Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force reports.

"On the night of September 16, 2024, the enemy attacked with strike UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type. From 20:00 on September 15 to 06:00 on September 16, the radio-technical troops of the Air Force detected and tracked 56 strike UAVs [launched from Kursk and Yeysk - Russia]," the report says.

It is reported that the main direction of the attack was Kyiv region.

"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 53 enemy attack UAVs were shot down in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions," the Air Force command specified.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, three more enemy drones were lost in several regions, initially without casualties or consequences.
