Yermak on executions of Ukrainian military: This is system that should be stopped, Russia brought to justice
Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, stated the need to hold Russia accountable for the executions of Ukrainian servicemen committed by the Russian occupiers.
"Russia must be held accountable and reimburse all losses caused. We are working together with the international community to make this a reality," he said on the Telegram channel, following a thematic conference dedicated to implementing the seventh point of the Peace Formula dubbed "Restoration of Justice."
As reported, the meeting was attended by representatives from around 60 partner countries and international organizations.
Ukraine was also represented at the conference by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, Deputy Heads of the President's Office Ihor Zhovkva and Iryna Mudra, and Advisors to the Head of the President's Office Dariia Zarivna and Oleksandr Bevz.
Yermak began the meeting by recalling that two days ago, a photo of a Ukrainian prisoner of war executed by Russian occupiers circulated widely on social media.
“I remembered the cruelty with which our prisoners of war are treated. Such barbarity is not an isolated incident. Prisoners were mutilated and stabbed in August, July, and June. Executions occur regularly. This is more than just war crimes. This is a system. Torture, rape, and mass killings are their norm. This is their routine, enshrined in orders. War crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation are the result of the crime of aggression. Therefore, it is impossible to achieve lasting peace without restoring justice," Yermak concluded, adding that the Russian Federation must bear legal responsibility and compensate for the damage caused. In particular, it is about the payment of reparations to Ukraine.
