GUR, MFA evacuate 179 people, incl 134 Ukrainians, from Lebanon
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine (GUR) and the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine successfully carried out another operation to evacuate citizens from Lebanon on October 1. As a result of the operation, 179 people were evacuated, the press service of GUR reported on Wednesday.
"There were 134 Ukrainians among the evacuees: 112 adults and 22 children. In addition, 45 people of other nationalities were evacuated, including 31 adults and 14 children: 16 citizens of Poland (ten adults and six children), six citizens of the Czech Republic (five adults and one child), nine citizens of Lithuania (six adults and three children), twelve citizens of Moldova (seven adults and five children), one citizen of Brazil and two citizens of Lebanon (adults). In addition, three animals were evacuated: two dogs and a cat," it said.
It is noted that the operation became part of a broader effort to return Ukrainian citizens due to the deteriorating economic situation and the economic situation in the region. Earlier, on September 4, GUR and the Foreign Ministry successfully evacuated 25 Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon, including 14 women and eleven children. During the first operation on August 3, 30 Ukrainians were evacuated, including 21 women and nine children.
In total, 234 people were evacuated from Lebanon during the three evacuation missions, including 189 Ukrainian citizens and 45 foreigners.
GUR and the Foreign Ministry express their gratitude to the official representatives of the Republic of Poland, who facilitated the evacuation, and to the SkyUp airline.
