President’s Office denies reports in Italian media about Zelenskyy's alleged readiness to agree to ceasefire along current front line
The report by the Italian ezine Corriere Della Sera about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's alleged readiness to cease fire along the current front line without recognizing the occupied territories as Russian in exchange for security guarantees from the United States and assurances of rapid accession to the European Union is not true, said Ukrainian Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.
"It's not true," Lytvyn told reporters about the publication on Thursday.
"We have a Peace Formula, it is absolutely clearly stated how Ukraine sees a just peace, and it is on this basis that negotiations with partners on strengthening Ukraine's positions continue. The victory plan, which will be presented to Britain, France, Italy and Germany in the coming days, is a tool to push the situation towards the implementation of the Peace Formula," explained the adviser to the head of the Ukrainian state.
Earlier, Corriere Della Sera reported in an article about Zelenskyy's trip to the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy on Thursday that "Zelenskyy ... will never be able to officially renounce the occupied territories [of Ukraine], but he would be ready for a ceasefire along the current line - without recognizing a new official border - in exchange for some commitments from the West: firstly, security guarantees from the United States, similar to those the Americans have provided to Japan, South Korea and the Philippines, and from Rome, Paris and Berlin, Zelenskyy would like to receive assurances regarding rapid accession to the European Union, which would give Ukraine a growth horizon."
