Kyiv hopes Ashgabat aware that Putin is war criminal for whom arrest warrant issued by ICC
In connection with Putin's planned visit to Turkmenistan on October 11 to participate in an international forum, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on all countries that value international law and the UN Charter to refrain from holding joint events with the participation of the Russian dictator.
"Ukraine hopes that the leadership of Turkmenistan is aware that Putin is a war criminal for whom an arrest warrant has been issued by the International Criminal Court for the illegal forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia," the statement says.
The Foreign Ministry also said this is only one of a number of crimes committed by the Kremlin's "elite." The Ukrainian side says Putin and his henchmen are responsible for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, murder, torture, rape, looting, shelling of civilian infrastructure and other atrocities committed by Russian occupiers on the territory of Ukraine.
"They must all be brought to justice for the crimes committed against the Ukrainian people. It's just that now the Russian occupiers continue to commit daily barbaric attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages, leading to the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the death of civilians," the department said.
The Foreign Ministry also called on all countries "that value human life, international law and the UN Charter to refrain from holding joint events with the participation of Putin, who unleashed a war in Europe on a scale unknown since the Second World War, and whose hands are elbow-deep in blood."
In addition, Ukraine appeals to all states and international organizations to make every effort to effectively implement the Peace Formula as a single effective path to ending Russian aggression and restoring a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine and on the European continent.
