During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany together with Belgium, Denmark and Norway will allocate another EUR 1.4 billion in military assistance to Ukraine in 2024.

By the end of the year, with the support of Belgium, Denmark and Norway, Germany will also provide Ukraine with another military assistance package worth around EUR 1.4 billion, he said during a joint press briefing with Zelenskyy.

The Chancellor said that the package will include additional IRIS-T and Skynex air defense systems, Gepard tanks with anti-aircraft gun systems, self-propelled howitzers, main battle tanks, armored vehicles, combat drones, radars and artillery munitions.

He also said that Germany will continue to support Ukraine next year, adding that the state budget provides for EUR 4 billion for direct bilateral assistance.

Scholz emphasized that the G7 countries will grant Ukraine with a $50 billion loan this year, which was approved at a summit in Apulia, adding that Ukraine can count on it.
