Umerov: None of NATO allies objects to Ukraine's invitation to alliance
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov claims that during the discussions on inviting Kyiv to NATO membership, none of the allies spoke out against it.
Umerov reported this to Ukrainian journalists in Brussels on Friday, answering a question from the Interfax-Ukraine agency about how the discussion of the issue of inviting Ukraine to the alliance went during the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council. As it is known, the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council took place on Thursday evening as part of a meeting of defense ministers of the alliance member countries.
"I'll be honest: it wasn't like someone wanted it and someone didn't want it. It wasn't like that. Everyone wants Ukraine to be in NATO. There were more questions about how they can help now. How quickly this can be done [invite Ukraine to membership] - this is an internal issue that they will discuss among themselves. But in the hall I didn't hear anything against it at all. At all. I didn't hear anything negative," the Ukrainian defense minister said.
