Mieriņa calls on states participating in Crimea Platform to annually support Ukraine with part of their GDP, like Latvia
Speaker of the Latvian Saeima Daiga Mieriņa has called on the states participating in the International Crimea Platform to follow the example of her country, which has pledged to annually allocate 0.25% of GDP for military support for Ukraine.
"Latvia has committed to allocating 0.25% of our GDP annually to military support for Ukraine. And I call on my colleagues so that all countries allocate at least the same percentage to military support for Ukraine," Mieriņa said at a joint briefing with Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk following the 3rd parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform in Riga on Thursday.
Mieriņa believes that such actions will allow Ukraine to achieve victory in the war with Russia much faster.
