Baerbock announces new humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth EUR 200 mln ahead of winter
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who arrived in Kyiv on a visit, announced new humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth EUR 200 million ahead of winter.
"We support Ukrainians in further preparation for winter. To this end, we are once again increasing our emergency humanitarian aid. This is an additional EUR 200 million of winter emergency aid. This means that even frontline houses without electricity will be able to receive heat," Baerbock said at a press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha on Monday.
In addition, she said that she visited a power plant today.
The minister also said "the best defense is to strengthen Ukraine's air defense." She recalled that since the beginning of the war, Germany has already delivered three Patriot systems, a total of nine Iris-T systems and two other systems.
Beerbock said Germany will continue to support Ukraine in this area and unite "our forces at the international level, especially through the air defense initiative."
"I once again call on all partners around the world to provide support in this area," the minister said.
