Ukrainian Customs launches automated declarations processing without officials' involvement

Ukraine's State Customs Service has launched automated customs processing at all border checkpoints using the new Automated Customs Processing System (ACPS).

"This system follows a strict set of algorithms that determine necessary customs steps based on risk management assessments, as well as the involvement of officials depending on the type of customs declaration, customs regime, item specifics, transport means, and existing authorizations for streamlined processing," the State Customs Service noted on its website.

The Customs Service stated that the automated process greatly accelerates customs clearance, reduces human influence, and makes procedures more transparent, thus lowering corruption risks.

Meanwhile, customs officers can focus more on inspecting high-risk goods.

The benefits of the automated system are available only to businesses designated as Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) and those with corresponding authorizations, enabling them to use simplified procedures without the need to enter customs control zones, saving time, money, and other resources.

"Today alone, fifty declarations have been processed automatically, with dozens more in progress. This demonstrates both the system's readiness and business representatives’ confidence in the new process," the State Customs Service concluded.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance website announced that as of November 7, 2024, 65 enterprises had received AEO status, with 68 authorizations granted.
