Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin has confirmed that the Russian occupiers damaged the Kurakhove reservoir dam in the village of Stari Terny and this poses threat to residents of the villages in the floodplain of the Vovcha River.

"The Russian forces damaged the Kurakhove reservoir dam. This strike poses a potential threat to the residents of the settlements on the Vovcha River in both Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions," he said on the Telegram channel on Monday.

As of 4 p.m., it was established that the water level within the Velyka Pysarivka community, Volnovakha community, Donetsk region, has risen tentatively by 1.2 meters.

"No flooding of houses has been recorded so far! We continue to monitor the level of water in the river and we are ready for the developments. The situation is under my personal control," Filashkin said.

Earlier, a soldier of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar" and the mayor of the town of Henichesk in Kherson region, Stanislav Buniatov, informed about the blowing up of the dam by the occupiers.

"Several villages in the direction of Bohatyr (15 kilometers west of the dam) have been flooded. The roads remain usable, but with certain nuances, the movement of armored vehicles on dirt roads around these settlements is of course limited," he said in a Telegram message.
