Zelenskyy inspects construction of fortifications in Donetsk region
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has inspected the construction of fortifications in Donetsk region and held a meeting on the security situation in the region.
"Donetsk region. The construction of fortifications and a meeting on the region's life support. Security is a priority. Today, I checked the course of the construction of fortification structures," he said on the Telegram channel on Monday.
According to the head of state, most of the planned structures are already equipped. He thanked everyone "involved in this important work."
The President's press service said that in Kramatorsk, Zelenskyy held a meeting with Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin and Commander of the Operational Tactical Group Luhansk, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty. The latter reported on the situation in key areas of the frontline, the use of various types of tactical drones and electronic warfare equipment.
"The President also was briefed on the construction of fortifications and mine barriers to strengthen the defense of the region. The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration noted that, in addition to military engineering units, specialists from various regions of Ukraine and Ukrzaliznytsia are also involved in the work," the press service said.
Zelenskyy inspected the process of fortification construction in the Pokrovsk direction, where the majority of the planned 600 objects have already been completed.
The head of state spoke with the builders and thanked them for their work.
Filashkin delivered a separate report on the socio-economic situation in the region and the evacuation of children from certain areas.
"According to him, about 324,000 people live in the government-controlled area of the Donetsk region. More than 318,000 Ukrainians, including 37,000 children, have been displaced during the mandatory evacuation," the press service said.
The meeting also addressed the progress of the heating season, in particular, 86% of the planned heating stations are operational. Most apartment buildings, healthcare and education facilities have heat. At the same time, it is impossible to start the heating season in the Pokrovsk territorial community for residents of apartment buildings.
