MP, leader of the party European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko, while in Canada, in an interview with the CBC TV channel said that Canada could finance production of Ukrainian weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the website of the political force reports.

According to Poroshenko, this would significantly speed up the delivery of necessary means to the front. He thanked the Canadian people and official Ottawa for their support of Ukraine, which has continued since the beginning of Russian aggression against our country in 2014.

"We are counting on Canada, because next year Canada will lead the G7 group. This gives us a unique opportunity to make significant progress. Secondly, we expect Canada to be the leader of the Western world in confiscating frozen Russian assets, because these are assets that have been stolen all over the world. This instrument provides a unique opportunity to finance Ukraine in order to stop Putin," Poroshenko is convinced.

He specified that it was very important for Ukraine to receive anti-aircraft missiles from Canada and emphasized the relevance of the initiative to train Ukrainian troops, since Canada will receive advanced experience in modern warfare, and Ukrainian soldiers will have the opportunity to work with unique equipment.

"We have several projects, and I have proposed them to our Canadian partners. For example, a project where the Canadian government and Canadian companies participate in the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. Firstly, it would be faster. Secondly, it would be cheaper. And thirdly, it would be immediate testing on the battlefield. Ultimately, it would save money for Canadian taxpayers and provide new technologies to Canadian manufacturers. Therefore, we have a full package for discussion with the Canadians," Poroshenko said.

He also recalled the need to allocate 0.25% of the GDP of allied states to finance the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko, during a speech at a session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Canada, called on the Alliance members to give Ukraine an invitation. He emphasized that this would be the right response to Putin's escalation.
