Poroshenko calls on Germany to step up military assistance to Ukraine

1 min read

Ukrainian MP Petro Poroshenko (European Solidarity Party), during a meeting of parliamentary faction leaders with Leader of the German Christian Democratic Union Friedrich Merz, called on Germany to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine without any restrictions, in particular, to provide Taurus missiles.

“The CDU's position as a leading member of the European People's Party and one of the key political forces in the next parliamentary elections in Germany in February 2025 will play a determining role in shaping the policy of Germany, the EU and NATO towards Ukraine in the coming years,” Poroshenko said on Facebook.

The European Solidarity leader urged the CDU leader to take decisive action in support of Ukraine in repulsing Russian aggression, in particular in providing military aid without restrictions, strengthening air defense, transferring long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine and inviting it to membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

Poroshenko underlined the importance of rapid progress on the EU accession negotiations track, which will depend, among other things, on Berlin's position, and informed about the state of democratic processes in Ukraine under martial law.
