Ukrainian volunteers upgrade Soviet air defense system to carry another missile
The Come Back Alive Foundation, together with the Air Defense of the Ground Forces and one of the enterprises, upgraded the Soviet anti-aircraft missile system to carry another missile, chairman of the Come Back Alive Foundation Taras Chmut said on the platform of X.
"The HORNET Project is something that has never happened in the volunteer environment! This is something beyond comprehension, but - together with the Air Defense of the Ground Forces and one of the enterprises, we managed to integrate the Soviet air-to-air missile R-73 on the Soviet air defense system 9K33M3 Osa-AKM," wrote Chmut.
According to him, with the start of the full-scale invasion, the Osa SAM system became one of the main air defense systems, with its help dozens of enemy UAVs, helicopters, aircraft and other targets were shot down.
"Over time, we began to experience a shortage of anti-aircraft missiles - 9M3 and began to look for alternative solutions - for example, to install another missile," Chmut said.
