EU allocates new package of humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth EUR 148 mln

The European Union allocates a new package of humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 148 million.

The corresponding announcement was made by Eva Hrncirova, a representative of the European Commission, in Brussels on Monday.

“I would like to announce the new humanitarian package for Ukraine, because where Russia destroys and hurts, European Union helps. So with the continuation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, we are stepping up our humanitarian aid, and we will support Ukrainian people with EUR 148 million in humanitarian aid in the middle of the winter,” she announced.

At the same time, Hrncirova detailed that from those EUR 148 million, EUR 140 million is for Ukraine, and EUR 8 million is for Moldova, where some of the Ukrainian refugees have fled and they stay there. “We will cover health care, shelter, education, some medical needs, and other needs in the middle of winter,” the representative of the European Commission explained.

Hrncirova also said that the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Assistance, Haja Lahbib, is currently staying in Kyiv, where she is holding meetings with Ukrainian officials.
