Military contingent of partner states in Ukraine could become part of the future security guarantees, but it alone is not enough, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Wednesday.

"We definitely need a full map of security guarantees for Ukraine, part of which could be military contingent. There is a question of what kind of contingent it will be, which countries [will send it], its quantity and quality, and its locations. It is not about some story, but a real contingent, a real capability," he said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk in Warsaw.

The head of state also noted that if the contingent deployment program is implemented, participation of instructors in a large training program for Ukrainian forces on the territory of Ukraine should be discussed.

At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that contingent alone is not enough for security guarantees as "after the war we will have to understand who we are dealing with."

According to him, Russia is deploying a 600,000 contingent on the territory of Ukraine today, while Ukraine's army includes 880,000 people, and 820,000 of them have to defend the entire territory.

The Russian troops focus their efforts on several directions and that is why they prevail in number in some of these directions, the head of state said.

"And when the war is over, we definitely must understand what other countries' contingent is. We support this idea and initiative, but we have to understand the number. Secondly, we must understand how the Ukrainian army, which is in fact defending not Ukraine alone today, will look like. Because this is a large army," Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that today the Ukrainian army and partners' weapons are the only security guarantees.
