The statements of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban are "quite strange," but there is a consensus in Europe regarding assistance to Ukraine, Adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak said.
"In Europe as a whole, there is a consensus regarding Ukraine, except for Hungary and Slovakia. This looks quite cynical. Of course, today, by the way, there were new statements by the subject Orban. They are quite strange, in my opinion. That is, he says that Ukraine does not exist," Podoliak said on the air of the national telethon.
As reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban on Friday expressed his opinion on Hungary's role during the past period of the EU presidency, called on Brussels to abandon sanctions and improve relations with Russia.
Orban said that peace was needed to achieve Hungary's economic policy goals, and then "we would have to deal with Ukraine, which we now only see through the 'glasses of war." He said Ukraine posed a serious economic threat to Europe, and therefore he would introduce serious protective measures to avoid, for example, damaging the Hungarian and Polish agricultural economies.
