Trump: Putin destroying Russia by refusing to conclude agreement to settle war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump believes that Russia will have big problems if its ruler Vladimir Putin does not agree to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump told reporters after his inauguration that Russia would be in big trouble, noting that Putin was destroying Russia by refusing to make a deal. He stated that Putin had to make a deal, or Russia would be in big trouble if President Vladimir Putin continued to refuse to make a deal to end the war in Ukraine.
The US president further remarked that Russia's economy and inflation were troubling indicators. He mentioned that most people had thought the war would be over in a week and expressed his belief that Putin would be very good at ending the war. Trump added that he would talk to Putin, although he did not specify when. He also stated that he got along very well with Putin and hoped that Putin wanted to make a deal.
The US President also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had told him that he wanted a peace deal to end the war. Trump said that Zelenskyy had expressed his desire to make a deal, though Trump was unsure if Putin shared the same intention.
Trump also commented on his campaign promise to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours, joking that it had only been half a day and he still had half a day left to fulfill the promise, adding, "We'll see."
