Poroshenko, Kubilius discuss in Brussels strengthening of EU's role in ensuring Ukraine's victory

Ukrainian MP and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko traveled to Brussels where he met with EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius to discuss the strengthening of the European Union's role in ensuring Ukraine's victory, the political force has said on its website Wednesday.

"I was glad to personally congratulate my old friend on his appointment as a member of the European Commission. I believe in the success and leadership of Andrius Kubilius in strengthening the security component of the united Europe, an integral part of which is an independent democratic Ukraine. [...] We discussed the situation at the front, the urgent political, military, economic needs of our state and the prospects for ending the war," Poroshenko was quoted as saying.

He noted the importance of the EU taking on more responsibility for security, peace and stability in Europe.

"We must redouble the efforts of the democratic world to ensure Ukraine's victory and the integration of our state into the EU and NATO," Poroshenko said.
