During ceasefire talks, we should talk about banning certain types of weapons – Poroshenko
During ceasefire talks in Ukraine, we should not talk about specific objects, but about banning certain types of weapons, believes leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko.
"We... started discussing which objects will fall under the ceasefire and which will not. Will energy facilities be covered, but hospitals will not? ... I believe that we should proceed from other principles... for example, if we sign a 30-day ceasefire, then it is forbidden to use ballistic missiles at all... Because they fly at a distance that goes beyond the frontline positions," Poroshenko said in an interview with journalist Vitaliy Portnykov on the Espresso TV channel.
According to Poroshenko, during the 30-day ceasefire, cruise missiles and strike drones with a range exceeding 25-30 kilometers should not be used.
Poroshenko emphasized that compliance with such an agreement would be very easy to control and it is necessary to convey to the Americans that such a decision would ensure effective control: "this is what will work."
