Ukraine’s General Staff: Over 970 Russian soldiers captured during operation in Kursk region
Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured 971 Russian Army soldiers during the offensive operation in Kursk region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Sunday.
"To free our people from enemy captivity, the Defense Forces are constantly replenishing the exchange fund with Russian soldiers and officers. The Kursk offensive operation was the most effective in this regard. Thus, in the period from August 6, 2024 to May 25, 2025, our defenders captured 971 Russian Armed Forces soldiers," the General Staff's comment on the POW exchange on Telegram reads.
It is reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to take active actions in Kursk region.
"A numerically superior enemy can only be defeated by non-standard solutions. The Kursk campaign was just such an unexpected and asymmetric move, the success of which has been recognized by the world," the General Staff emphasizes.
