German Foreign Minister calls for joint pressure on Russia with USA
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul believes that European states should coordinate their actions against Russia with the United States in order to force Russia to negotiate a peace agreement with Ukraine as soon as possible, the German Foreign Ministry website reports.
As noted, during his visit, the German Foreign Minister will continue the United States' efforts to find a diplomatic way to end the war in the heart of Europe.
“We want to finally put an end to the deaths of people in Ukraine, we want an immediate ceasefire and we want lasting peace,” Wadephul emphasized.
“In order for Putin to finally sit down at the negotiating table, for Russia to finally start serious negotiations, we must continue to apply pressure. We Europeans will continue to tighten sanctions, and the US Congress is also ready to impose additional sanctions,” he said.
Other topics that the German minister will raise during his visit include US-EU trade relations and the conflict in the Middle East.
