EU Ambassador on the attack on Ukraine: Russians are attacking maternity hospitals, playgrounds, schools
The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, has commented on Russia’s massive airstrike on Ukraine, saying that the Russians "deserve nothing but contempt, condemnation and just punishment for all the terrible war crimes they are committing in Ukraine."
" The nights tally: 315 killer drones and 7 missiles. Russians bombed a maternity hospital in Odesa. Newborn babies and their exhausted mothers had to be evacuated. The Russians will stop at nothing. Not even innocent newborns are spared. There was a massive attack on Kyiv. Six or seven districts were hit, with damage to residential buildings. Several fires broke out during rescue operations and air defense interventions. A building close to the EU Delegation and a car in our parking lot suffered severe damage. … A building near the EU Delegation and a car in our parking lot were badly damaged. According to the President’s Office, two people died overnight and nine others were seriously injured. But the death toll could still rise," Mathernová wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
She noted that the authorities in Kyiv and Odesa called the attacks "prolonged terror against civilians."
"Russians attack maternity wards, playgrounds & schools, sow terror and kidnap children. Before & after the spectacular Ukrainian Spiderweb operation. They deserve only contempt, condemnation, and a fair punishment for all the heinous war crimes they are committing in Ukraine. I strongly hope that the news of these night attacks has already reached the desks of decision makers & prods them to put more pressure on Russia to stop this terror.," the ambassador said.
