URCS takes part in first International Exercises of Local and Voluntary Fire Department Teams
Representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) have taken part in the first International Exercises of Local and Voluntary Fire Departments of Ukraine, which brought together over 100 participants,” URCS said on Facebook.
Among the participants in the exercise were representatives of URCS’ rapid response units, volunteers of voluntary fire departments from 9 regions of Ukraine supported by the Ukrainian Red Cross, as well as specialists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
For two days, the exercise participants worked at six locations that simulated various emergency situations. The simulations were aimed at improving the participants’ emergency response skills, including extinguishing fires in hard-to-reach areas, evacuating victims in conditions of limited visibility and providing them with first aid, rescuing people on the water, as well as eliminating the consequences of road accidents and providing necessary assistance to victims.
Joint exercises allow for the exchange of experience, improvement of response algorithms and increase preparedness for action during emergencies. Such activities are important for ensuring the safety of citizens and effective response to today's challenges.
URCS will continue to strengthen cooperation with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine within the framework of the Unified State Civil Protection System to provide operational assistance to those in need.
