Office of Norwegian air defense system manufacturer Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace opens in Ukraine — Umerov
An office of the leading Norwegian arms manufacturer Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, known in particular for its NASAMS systems, which are already used to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian missiles and drones, has opened in Ukraine.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that in cooperation with Kongsberg they are focusing on the development of joint projects in the field of air defense, preparing new solutions based on NASAMS to strengthen the protection of the population and critical infrastructure.
"Air defense is one of our strategic priorities. This month alone, the enemy has launched more than 3,500 missiles and UAVs. We are working to scale up production and accelerate deliveries," Umerov was quoted as saying by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The opening of the office is another step in the development of the partnership between Ukraine, Norway and the Kongsberg company, which will implement projects in the field of interceptor production, strengthening air defense and maritime protection: "This also opens up new opportunities for cooperation between Ukrainian and Norwegian engineers - to increase the effectiveness of existing weapons and introduce innovations," the report says.
